Sixty years of foundry sand testing.
Now measured by machine vision.
Since 1966, Versatile Equipments has researched, designed and built the instruments foundries trust to measure their sand. Three generations on, that same craft now sees the test endpoint with a camera and streams every reading to the cloud.
A pioneer, still moving the field forward.
Versatile Equipments Pvt. Ltd. researches, designs, manufactures and sells the foundry sand-testing equipment used by foundries and technical institutes worldwide, sold through a wide network of dealers and agents across the globe.
We are the pioneer of foundry sand-testing instruments in India, designing and building instruments the industry could not source at the time, and growing into the field's leader with 9,000+ unique customers at home and abroad. Our range covers nearly every sand system used in the industry today, from green sand to shell, no-bake, resin-coated, cold box and CO2.

From the first instrument to the connected lab.
Founded
Versatile begins building foundry sand-testing equipment in India.
Built from scratch
Designing and manufacturing sand-testing instruments in-house, at a time when foundries had few options.
The trusted name
9,000+ customers and a global dealer network; the complete sand-testing range.
The connected foundry
Machine-vision testing, VSync cloud data and online plant control.
Three generations, and the people who do the work.
Versatile has stayed a family business since 1966. The same family still runs it, and the same names answer for the work. Around them is a team that foundries deal with directly, on the phone and on the floor.

Mr. Anil Janwadkar
Leads Versatile’s design and manufacturing, carrying forward six decades of foundry-instrument expertise.

Mrs. Anita Janwadkar
Steers the company’s finance and operations.

Mr. Pushkraj Janwadkar
Drives Versatile’s move into machine vision and connected foundry systems.
Service engineers
Engineers travel out to install, calibrate and repair. Each carries a master kit, so an instrument can be checked on site against a reference that is traceable rather than assumed.
Design and R&D
The instruments are designed and built in Kolhapur, by a team whose research and development work is recognised by DSIR.
Standards work
Versatile sits on the BIS MTD 14 committee, so the people who build the instruments also help shape the methods the industry writes down.
Credibility earned, not claimed.
Versatile does not only build to the standards - we help write them, and our research is recognised by the Government of India.
Government-recognised R&D
Our in-house research and development is recognised by the Department of Scientific & Industrial Research (DSIR), Government of India.
Standards formulation committee
Versatile is a member of the Bureau of Indian Standards MTD 14 committee that formulates India's foundry sand-testing standards.
Category pioneer
The first to design and manufacture foundry sand-testing instruments in India, now supplying foundries in more than 40 countries.
Six decades of trust
A family-run manufacturer with 60 years of continuous foundry-instrument expertise.

Instruments that see, connect and control.
The last few years have redefined what a Versatile instrument can do: the same rugged, validated hardware, now digital, connected and self-checking.
- Machine vision: the VMBD reads the methylene-blue halo endpoint with a camera - objective and repeatable.
- VSync cloud: readings sync to the cloud for audit-ready records and remote monitoring.
- Online plant control: V-CAT tests green sand in-line and closes the loop with the mixer.
- Traceable calibration: a QR-verifiable calibration platform for every instrument.
Not content to stand still.
Six decades in, the work has moved past the single instrument, into autonomous testing, connected data and the shared knowledge the industry runs on.
Autonomous testing
An automated testing unit that prepares and reads a sample largely on its own, taking operator variance out of the result.
The connected foundry
VSync streams every reading to the cloud, and V-CAT closes the loop with the mixer in-line, so a plant can steer its sand in real time.
Defect recognition, in an app
A shop-floor app that logs a casting defect from a photo and helps train the team to recognise and trace it.
Sharing what we learn
Guides, worked methods and standards work, so the practice gets sharper for the whole industry, not only our own customers.
