Every aperture, one instrument.
From a coarse retained fraction to the finest pan cut, a Versatile nest resolves a full particle-size distribution in one pass. Woven to ISO 3310-1 and ASTM E11, marked in microns with dual ASTM and BSS mesh, and numbered one by one.
The aperture chart.
The foundry AFS series (marked below) runs as a matched set from 1700 µm to 53 µm. Beyond it, we supply across the ISO 3310-1 range to suit your material and method.
| Aperture | ASTM E11 | BS 410 | Typical material |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4.75 mm | No. 4 | 3/16 in | Coarse aggregate, granules |
| 2.36 mm | No. 8 | 7 mesh | Aggregate, coarse powders |
| 1.70 mm | No. 12 | 10 mesh | Coarse foundry fraction |
| 850 µm | No. 20 | 18 mesh | Foundry sand, coarse cut |
| 600 µm | No. 30 | 25 mesh | Foundry sand |
| 425 µm | No. 40 | 36 mesh | Foundry sand, mid cut |
| 300 µm | No. 50 | 52 mesh | Foundry sand |
| 212 µm | No. 70 | 72 mesh | Foundry sand, fine cut |
| 150 µm | No. 100 | 100 mesh | Fine sand, powders |
| 106 µm | No. 140 | 150 mesh | Fine powders |
| 75 µm | No. 200 | 200 mesh | Fines, cement, flour |

Representative sizes. Finer apertures to 20 µm and intermediate sizes are available. Tell us the standard you report to and we will confirm the exact aperture list.
One-piece stainless
A monolithic 8-inch (203 mm) stainless steel frame in full height or half height. No weld, no solder, no filler to trap fines or fail at a joint.
Precision woven wire
Stainless woven wire cloth, aperture and wire diameter held to ISO 3310-1 tolerance, drawn taut and flat so the material meets the aperture it is meant to.
Engraved, not labelled
Aperture in microns, ASTM and BSS mesh, and a unique serial number laser-engraved into the frame. Nothing to peel, fade or swap between samples.

Nests that seat true.
Frames stack square and seal clean, so a full nest runs without leakage between decks. Order loose sieves, or matched sets complete with the parts that make a nest.
- Lids with ring pull, seating flat over the top deck
- Receiver pans to catch and weigh the final passing fraction
- Intermediate pans for split analysis and fraction recovery
- Matched nests supplied loose or calibrated together on request
Four things, and we will quote.
Standard
ISO 3310-1, ASTM E11 or BS 410, and the certification grade your quality system asks for.
Apertures
The list of sizes, or the size range you need to resolve and we will propose the set.
Frame
Full height or half height, 8-inch, and whether you want lid and receiver.
Tell us the material. We will specify the sieve.
Send the size range you resolve and the standard you report to. We will propose apertures, frames and grade, and quote for delivery anywhere you work.
